but felt it was no different from the standard rooms. The only basic difference is that there is breakfast for 2 instead of 1. Room rates are definitely not reflective of the quality of the rooms and while the hotel lobby and floor corridor is spacious, the rooms are only so-so and could be more lavish for this kind of price range. Will only return to stay if they drop prices by at least 30%!

for rooms that are basically very normal and a little old-fashioned in design. Hotel has an identity problem and is known outside at the main entrance as Parklane Hotel but Parkview Hotel on Ctrip. About time that the hotel does some serious renovation and make-over if it wants to continue charging this kind of 5-star room rates.

at the most 3.5-star standard for the rooms which are a little old, jaded and in need of some furbishing. Hotel management seems to be very lost and clueless about how they want to run the hotel as the hotel is commonly known as Parkview on Ctrip but when you reach the front entrance of the hotel, it is actually called "Parklane Hotel'' instead. Even the Chinese name of the hotel varies and while it is commonly known as "Guoji Jiudian", there is another Chinese name for it at the front entrance of the hotel. Will you really call a hotel mangement who cannot decide on its actual name a 5-star hotel? You decide...

about the rooms. I find that the decor and design somewhat jaded and room rates are definitely priced above what it''s worth. In fact, we found out that you could get at least 100-200rmb off the standard room rates if you had patronised its karaoke facilities. This made us felt somewhat cheated and Ctrip did not do a good job in getting the best room rate this time round. Breakfast is decent but there is only one breakfast coupon which means you need to eat on your own!
